Who are the Sea Cadets

The Sea Cadet Corp is the oldest youth organisation in the UK. We are a non-profit making organisation for young people between the ages of 10 to 18.

Based on a naval way of life, we have connections with the Royal Navy and the Ministry of Defence, but we are not under their control, and receive no direct cash funding from them, unlike other Cadet forces. This means we are not a pre-service organisation and we do not actively encourage people to join the Royal Navy, only give information and advice if a cadet shows an interest. Having said that, the Royal Navy does supply us with boats, uniforms and travel, in return we teach cadets about the role and responsibilities of the Navy and organise our units as if it where a Naval 'ship'.

Okay we wear a uniform, and have a discipline structure, but we also have fun. Our Instructors come from a range of backgrounds but they all have extensive training allowing us to give a wide range of activities and training for you.

We are 'SEA' Cadets so we do a range of watersports (sailing, canoeing, powerboating, windsurfing and rowing), but we also do a lot of other activities including, expedition training, shooting, band, meteorology, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, first-aid, communications, cooking... the list goes on......

Sea Cadets will teach you about the sea and the naval way of life, but it will also teach you teamwork, comradeship and a range of life-skills that will stay with you forever.
