How Do I Get To Supervise Canoeing For My Unit ?

There are two different ways to get qualified for supervising cadets canoeing, the first method uses the Sea Cadet System only, and the second method is through membership of the BCU and holding a BCU Coaching Award.

If you are already a BCU Canoe Coach, and hold a a ‘BCU Coaching Award’ this does not automatically entitle you to appear on the authorised SCC Canoe list (distributed through SAMs if your from Southern Area).

To gain this authorisation you need to demonstrate to your ‘ASO Canoe’ or an 'SCC Class 1' that you have read and understood the relevant canoe sections of Cadet Training Instructions and TAR’s.  You will also need to copy your certification, including CST and first aid to your ASO.
